Joy!

 Hello crafting friends

This week at polkadoodles, the DT were challenged with a colour themed Christmas card. pinks, greens and teals!

I used the clear stamp called 'winter noel'   I ink blended distress oxides (kitsch flamingo into Salvaged Patina) onto a sheet of textured card stock.  I masked the edges before so i could create a rectangle in the top third of my blank card..

I then used my stamping tool to give a good clear impression with versafine onyx black ink., using too of the stamps from the set along with the word joy.  I dug through my stash for the words at Christmas time.   I trimmed the panel and added a black mat behind, before mounting onto a 5x7 card.

I just love the CAS feel of this.

I'd like to enter this into:

mini moo challenge 2023

 Hi Crafting friends

I have something a bit different to share.  For the last month, I have been participating in the mini moo challenge over at Vera Lane Facebook group.  A mini moo is a little card measuring 2.75 by 1.25 inches so it's tiny.

You really have to think about positioning and how to create texture in the background on a very small scale.

Each day there was a different theme or prompt and the idea was to use Vera lane artwork and a few other craft supplies to make a set of cards to enter a challenge.

The prompts to match the photo below were:

Girly

Dog gone it

winter

crafter

birthday

garden

Holiday

Cats

Home

Black and white

flowers

transportation

Go fish

love

Oh boy

Spring

Face it

Yellow

Lets fly

Monochrome

Dee-licious

For the birds

Vacation

Halloween

Bright colours

Got the blues

sunshine

Fairy tale

trave

Song title

Good books

Each time I look at them I have a new favourite! Today it's the pink one with the flamingo for the beach!

My plan is to now add them to a journal and keep them as artwork

Thank you to #veralanedesigns for a fantastic challenge!

A cuddle makes it all better....

Happy new year crafting friends!

I hope everyone had a peaceful Christmas break and are looking forward to a prosperous and craft filled 2023!

Today I am sharing a cutie from the All dressed up range called 'a cuddle makes it all better' available from Etsy

This is to mark our first All dressed up Facebook challenge of the year. Our friendly group showcase Wendy's designs and you can enter our themed challenge (this month is cute so most of Wendy's images will qualify)

After colouring the sweet girl and her puppy with a combination of spectrum noir brush markers and copics, I fussy cut around them.  The background is a brick stencil using abandoned coral oxide ink and I stamped a sentiment from an Aall and create set in the corner.  To finish I added a fine liner border also in a coral colour and the sequins for some shine.

I'd like to enter this into:

lets get spooky...

Hi fellow crafters (and craft appreciators!)

I'm afraid Summer is drawing to a close, and looking at the prices of gas and electric in the UK, come the winter, we will be too cold to craft, so I'd better get ahead!

Our challenge is on again over at Polkadoodles week 35 - anything goes, along with a chance to win some of Nikky's amazing images - your biggest challenge will be choosing which ones!

This image is called Frankenstein monster boo and I have also used the Halloween paper bundle 2

I firstly used scattered straw distress oxide in the background, blending from the middle outwards like a glow, then added ink on the edges to frame him. I then used black gouache paint to splatter all over the background too.

I tore two strips of different papers to place across the bottom to ground my image.  He was printed out then coloured using copic markers then fussy cut and popped on some foam squares for dimension

I added the image and the sentiment, and decided it need more, so I went back to the paper pack and enlarged some of the skulls and fussy cut them out.

To finish the spooky feel, I doodled around the edge, and added some hand drawn cobwebs in the top corners

there are loads of great Autumn/Halloween images over in the shop - Please check them out.  Also see the other DTs amazing inspiration on the blog too!

Truly Dino-mite!

 Hello everyone

For everyone in the UK - I'm so glad that heat has dialled down.  Fore everyone not in the UK wondering why we are complaining - we don't have enough hot weather to justify getting aircon units as most of our weather is rain! We are rubbish at any extremes of hot or cold and a few days ago it reached the hottest it has ever been in the UK at 40 degrees Centigrade.  The British love a good moan about the weather!  Anyway onto the card...

I thought I'd revisit my stash and I made this using the Mam elephant little dino agenda and me and my dinosaur stamp sets

Ingredients

  • Stamps
    • Me and my dinosaur
    • Little dino agenda
  • Coloured with spectrum noir tri-blend brush markers
  • Inks
    • Memento tuxedo black
    • Prized ribbon distress oxide
    • Twisted citron distress oxide  ink
    • Sakura glitter gelly roll pen
I stamped all of the images out and cut them using my scan and cut.  I then coloured them using the spectrum noir tri blend brush markers.  I ink blended a background and laid the images on to create this super cute scene! matted and layered on black, onto a 5x7 card base.

The final touch was a heat embossed sentiment and some sparkle pens for shine.

I hope you like it!

Monster celebration

 Hi crafting friends

Welcome back for another make from the desk of the glittery pink craft room, today its a nice clean and simple one using a Tracey Hey stamp set called 'out of this world'

I stamped the cute alien (there's also the sweetest robot in this set) and coloured him using copic markers, then I fussy cut him out and edged around the cut image with black marker pen.

On the card front I used twisted citron distress oxide ink through a i-craft brick stencil.  I stamped the black squiggles and hearts.  These are also part of the stamp set, all finished with a sentiment from the same set.

I hope you like him - he's so adorable!

Another Alice....

Hello everyone

Hope you are all feeling good after the new year celebrations, and looking forward to another year of crafting inspiration direct from the desk of the glittery pink craft room!

I'll start by thanking everyone who visits, follows and comments here.  I started my new blog in July last year, along with other SM platforms, now knowing what would happen, but since then I've gained loads of IG followers, as well as started new followers on this blog.  If you have landed her accidentally, please take a look around.  To follow me, please click on the main page on the right, all links are there!

So... the last few cards you may have noticed I have looked around on Etsy for some new designers and ideas to play with.  I came across Vera Lane studios (who you may recognise from some of the aall and create stamps.  I have always love Alice in wonderland, and when I saw there was a different type of Alice, she was added to basket and checked out quicker than I could say 'I'm late!'

I also wanted to try a bit of a new style.  Grungy but with pretty flowers and colour, so this was the combo I came up with.  I made several in this style and am loving it!

Hope you like it too!

Alice in Crafting land

Hi everyone

Yesterday I was browsing Etsy for digi stamps. I wanted to find some new cute designs and as my craft room is rapidly filling up - I can always justify buying new digi's as they take up no room!

I found this super cute set and brought it along with several others from a company called Caperuza sketch. they were really reasonably priced, and I adore the sketchy design.

Alice in Wonderland is one of my all-time favourite stories, and I knew they would have to be bright and bold and rainbow coloured.  I did colour them as close to the Disney film adaptation as possible.

ingredients

  • Coloured with copics markers
  • Digi stamps by Caperuza sketch on etsy here
  • Die - Lawn fawn scalloped slimline die with hears
  • Glittered with tonic shimmer pen and stickles Christmas berry red glitter
  • Ink blending with distress oxide inks
    • worn lipstick,
    • scattered straw,
    • broken china,
    • villainous potion
I printed all of my images first, coloured them and cut them out using my scan and cut.
I then cut out the die shape with some smooth white card stock, and blended distress inks to create a rainbow.

I blended the colours to create the secondary tones of orange and green and at the end added come more worn lipstick so it looks like it going back to red again.

This was then splattered with black water colour paint and lawn fawn liquid stardust.

I printed the quote and cut it up, then laid it along with my images onto the panel using glue and foam pads.  I used a slightly bigger card blank to put it on to finish the card.

I just love how colourful this is and how cute those characters are.  I can guarantee I'll be back for more images from here, There were so many to choose from!

Love roo

Hello everyone

I made this card for my sons birthday last month, but just haven't got around to blogging it yet.

When my son was a toddler he couldn't say wallaby, so he called them "wobbalies" and the name has stuck ever since, so when I spotted this roo set from clearly besotted, it had to land in my basket!

Ingredients

  • Die -
    • Mama elephant slim line scene builder
    • tattered lace basic circle
  • Stamps –
    • clearly besotted – Love roo
    • MFT lets stick together
  • Coloured with spectrum noir tri blend brush markers
  • Ink blending distress oxide inks
    • Chipped sapphire
    • Prize ribbon
    • Antique paper
    • Vintage photo

I cut out of the panels for the shaped card and ink blended them all.  For texture I splatted each one with the same colours I had used to blend as well as black and white, with some shimmer pen in there too. For the circle back panel i used a large circle and chopped it in half in my trimmer to make a different backdrop.

I put these aside to dry while stamping and colouring all of my images, that I then put through my scan and cut and cut them all out.  I also cut out the word ‘Son’ in two sizes, one in black and the other in white

Now the background panels were dry, I glued them all together to form the card base, and placed my critters around the card to create a scene.  In the sky I adhered the ‘son’ word and stamped the happy birthday to room on the front panel.

He absolutely adored this – its still in his bedroom now.  His very own set of wobbalies!

Frightfully sweet

 Hello friends

A few posts back I said I do not do Halloween as a rule, I do not celebrate it and my son doesn’t go trick or treating.  Not due to religious reasons just because it doesn’t sit comfortably with me.  Having said that, I have had several posts recently about Halloween because the images are just tooooo cute! I saw this MFT one and had to have it.  There is something super sweet about animals dressed up to make a cute scene!

Ingredients

  • Stamps
    • MFT - frightfully sweet
    • Clearly besotted  - Alien attack
  • Inks
    • Distress oxides
      • Mustard seed
      • Chipped sapphire
      • Wilted violet
      • Twisted citron
      • Black soot
    • Versa mark
    • Memento tuxedo black
    • Hero arts unicorn pigment ink
  • Scan and cut
  • Gold metallic paint
  • White and black acrylic paint
  • Shimmer pen
  • Glossy accents

I made this card into a z fold, but with a bottom bar to add the critters too.

I did this by taking a 6x6 card blank.  I folded the front page back on itself (so its like a z shape) and then opened it flat again. I then trimmed 1.5 inches off the bottom to make the bar.

Before layering I inked the background. I knew I wanted a spooky house in the background so started with mustard seed in this location and added twisted citron across the bottom to add a spooky glow. I then continued blending using wilted violet, chipped sapphire and a bit of black soot along the top. Once I was happy with the blending, I added gold metallic, white, and black paints to splatter across the night sky

For the ground, my critters stand on, this was black card stock I cut into wavy lines added white pigment ink to the top and then layered them together. I used a white gel pen to add dots (I forgot t platter before I had assembled so had to improvise!)

I then stamped and coloured the cute critters from the MFT stamps set and the spooky castle/house from clearly besotted. And cut them all out using my scan and cut.

The bottom bar was added the opposite way around to the main card folds, and everything was then placed and either glues or foam pads used to adhere it together. The sentiment was from the MFT set and was embossed using white powder and a Versamark in pad. Finishing touches were a bit of glitter and some glossy accents.

Phew that was a lot of explaining!

Dino rawr!

Hello again

I'm back with more from the desk of the glittery pink craft room.  This time its cute dinosaurs'.

I've always loved dinosaurs, and my son is like some super palaeontologist who knows the names of them all - some I have never even heard of!   These are from Mama elephant and there are two different stamp sets both dino based, and I cannot resist a cute boys dino card! I know the name of these - they are simply dino rawrs! ha ha

Ingredients

  • Stamps
    • Mama elephant little dino agenda
    • Mama elephant Me and my dinosaur
  • inks
    • Memento tuxedo black
    • Salvaged patina distress oxide
    • twisted citron distress oxide
    • mowed lawn distress oxide
  • Tattered lace basic circle die
  • Cloud stencil
  • glossy accents
  • Tonic glitter gloss
I stamped and coloured the images, before using my scan and cut to cut them all out.  I die cut a circle and using a cloud stencil I made a sky back ground.  I then cut a wavy line from some whit card stock and using my circle die cut I made grassy hills to add onto the background and ink blended them using the green distress inks

I then layered up the circle using the stamps.  There was still a bit too much white on the card, so I went through my scraps and found this black and white stripy paper to be cut into a strip on the left.  finished with a sentiment from the stamp set, and highlights of tonic shimmer and glossy accents.

Cool birthday

 Hello crafty friends

I'm back with some more card making inspiration - penguins having fun in the sun....

I wanted to make a more masculine card and thought this as a fun idea using these super cute penguins

Ingredients

  • Stamps
    • MFT - penguins in paradise
    • Anne-Marie - birthday stamp (background)
    • Lisa Horton - Everyday tickertape sentiments
  • Coloured with Copics and Spectrum noir triblend brush marker
  • Inks
    • peacock feathers and squeezed lemonade distress inks
    • Lawn fawn black alcohol friendly ink
  • Die - tattered lace stitched basic circle
I started by stamping the penguins in the jet black ink and colouring them with my alcohol markers.  I then cut them out using my scan and cut.  I've had this stamp set for probably 3 or 4 years and I still love it!

While that was cutting, I started on my background.  I used the happy birthday background stamp on my fingers, lightly inking and tapping down mainly across the middle section of the card, from top to bottom to add interest.
I then used my distress inks and blending brushes to create coloured patches in the background  and then added to the texture by smooshing the ink pads on my desk, adding water and lightly tapping my paintbrush across the panel.  I also did the same with a bit of lawn fawn sparkle liquid.

I dried this with my heat tool, and die cut a circle, layering everything together using glue and foam pads.  Matted onto a piece of black card stock, the finished card was a top fold 5x7.  Finishing touches with a white gel pen and three sentiments from the Lisa Horton set, and there we have a super male card.

How I wish I was with those penguins!
