Wedding card and invite ideas

 Hi everyone

As well as the weekly challenge at Polkadoodles, they also have a great new set of stamps for weddings.  They are so versatile and can be used for wedding stationary, as well as congratulations cards for getting married, engagement, anniversary etc.

I made a card using the sets, and incorporating a belly band wrap

I stamped several of the images from the stamp set, fussy cut them out, and coloured them using copics.  Using a landscape 5X7 card, I scored to make a gatefold card and using a strip of pink card, wrapped it around for the band.

I then cut a scalloped circle and a plain circle using the same pink card and some white card respectively, and layered the fussy-cut images.  To make the heart panels, I used the tiny heart stamp in the set and randomly stamped in pink over a piece of white card, before trimming the panels to size.

I decided to showcase his as an invite, but it could be for any love-style celebration really.

I'd like to enter this into

Tiddlyinks Molly Swims image on 5x7 card

 Hi crafting friends,

I'm back with a super cute card made using a Tiddlyinks image that I have had on my computer for ages and never used.  She's so cute, and perfect for the summer!

She is called Molly Swims and can be found on Etsy under the Tiddlyinks shop.

The backing papers are also from Etsy from a shop called Jenny L and these papers are called Secret Garden.  Again I downloaded ages ago and have not used them.

I cut the stripy paper leaving a 1-inch strip for the patterned floral paper.  The image was coloured with copics and fussy cut out.  I used a stitched circle die and placed it off the page to highlight the Molly.  The 'Hello' die is from Penny Black as is the sunshine sentiment, they are a seperate die and stamp set but work together to make phrases.  I then coloured the 'hello' in the same pink used on the rubber ring.

As a final touch, I put glossy accents onto the rubber ring and her sunglasses for a bit of shine.

She is just too cute!

I'd like to enter this into:

As you like it challenge - cute or floral I love anything cute, whether that's a cute girl or boy, or some critters.  I also love a floral, so on this card, I combined both!

A place to start - anything goes with option of add flowers

Winter pastels colours

 Hello crafting friends

Today is once again a new challenge, the last for 2024, before we take a short Christmas break! What a year it's been for me, lots of life-changing moments and an awful lot of reflection!

I find crafting helps with my mental health and certainly when I need to reflect or back away from a situation for some distance and just stop thinking for an hour or two.

Anyway - back to the challenge.  I made this for the challenge using Winnie and Penguin from the white Christmas collection. Our theme was a pastel rainbow, but I chose to just use a few of the colours.

The papers are offcuts from my scraps drawer, and the colours match perfectly with my image.  Do you colour to match your paper, or colour an image and then find matching paper?  I do both, but this time around I coloured first.

I used a Kraft card square blank and rounded the edges on two sides as a point of difference from a usual square card.

The image was coloured using Copic markers in pinks, blues and violets, and I used a white gel pen to add detail to her cheeks, and stickles for the snow and her wings.

I then fussy cut the image out and mounted it on top of the car using foam pads.

I'd like to enter this into:

Thanks so much for stopping by - there is more inspiration on my Instagram pages if you prefer this way. If you are here - I would you to leave me a comment.

See you again soon

Bunita says 'happy mothers day'

 Hi Crafty friends

In the UK soon it is Mother's Day.  It's a bittersweet day for me, as my son celebrates with me being his mom, but I sadly lost both my Mom and my Mother-in-law.

I still however, have a Nan - so I always make her a card and send flowers as she looked after me a lot as a child, and deserves to be spoiled too.

This year - I made this sweet card using Bunita from Polkadoodles, and used it as your inspiration for this week's PD challenge

I used a combination of stamps and papers from Polkadoodles for this.

Firstly the image - Bunita Carrot cake, was coloured using polychromos pencils.  I wanted a soft, furry look for her.  I then fussy cut her out.

I used a paper pack called Sugar scrumptious for the backing papers, adding only a little ink around the edge.  The sentiment is also a PD one called great occasions.

I'd like to enter this into:

Make my Monday - all creatures great and small

The cutie pie challenge - mothers day

Crafty gals corner - add a heart

Krafty chicks challenge - all occasions

Creative fingers - anything goes

Thanks for dropping in - Don't forget to check out the other DT inspiration on our blog and join in with our anything-goes theme to win prizes (they don't even have to be Polkadoodles images!)

Bundle of Joy

 Hello crafters

Today I'm sharing the latest DT inspiration for our Facebook challenge over at all dressed up.  Each month on the 1st we have a new theme for you to make projects for and enter for a chance to win some images from the fabulous Wendy Burns.

This month our theme is clean and simple.

I do love a CAS card, and here is mine using a stamp called night night little one

I printed the image and coloured with copics and Spectrum noir tri blend brush markers

The paper is from my stash and the sentiment stamp is from a waltzing mouse set that I have had for around 15 years!

The only other finishing touch was a clear glitter sparkle pen on the flower and on the pads of her feet.

Our theme for June is pick a colour... an guess my colours!  Yes raspberry and black.  I just love these colours!!!

I printed her out and coloured her with a combo of copics and Polychromos pencils.

The back ground is a stamp from stampendous called Pop dots available from @Oakwooddirect.  The sentiment is from Claire manning designs

Here is my card using Prosecco time.

Ingredients

  • Stamp - all dressed up prosecco time (available from Etsy here
  • Coloured with - Copics and Prismacolour pencils
  • Sentiment - Crafters companion
  • dies -
    • Flowers Creative expressions
    • Tattered Lace - pearl squares
  • Backing paper from my stash.
  • Finished with Nuvo drops, glossy accents and shimmer pens

I printed and coloured the image before using my square die to cut her out.  I wanted a 'pop' of pink so I added a bright pink card stock behind and matted her onto the damask patterned paper.  Matted again on more pink to add contrast to the edges.

I added the sentiment and flowers, using my shimmer pen to add sparkle across several elements of the card, including the sentiment.  I then added glossy accents to the sentiment (which looks like a glittery puffy sticker), as well as nuvo drops to the flowers.

All my polkadoodles love

Hello everyone

I'm trying to use some of what I have in my craft room, rather than buying new and decided to do a search through my computer to see what I had on there. I've been crafting for so long that I have folders that I haven't even been into since 2010!

While I was searching through my digi stash and found a whole kit I had totally forgotten about, and they're just super cute!

This is from a Winnie sugar sprinkles collection from Polkadoodles.

 Ingredients

  • Stencil - the range
  • Ink - distress ink Kitsch Flamingo
  • Scalloped circle die - lawn lawn
  • Sentiment - Mama elephant big sending hugs stamp set
  • Coloured with Spectrum noir triblend brush markers and
  • Polychromos pencils for detail

I printed her and coloured her, adding detail with my pencils to add depth after laying the alcohol pens down.  I then cut her out using my scan and cut (with a 1mm border)

I took a piece of plan card and using a stencil, added the tiny hearts to the background fading the colour out to the edges.  I die cut the circle from a grey card stock ad also stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto the same card.  To make this pop, I also matted the main panel onto it too.

Everything was then layered with a combination of glue and foam pads for extra dimension.

I just love her - this is one of those cards you just don't want to give away!

I'd like to enter her into:

Sip, Sip, Hooray!

Hello Crafting friends,

Welcome back to my blog for another card.  This time using Edna from Stamping Bella.

My friend asked me if I could make a card for a friend who liked gin (well who doesn't!) and I made a selection of cards for her to choose from.  After making the one below (but in a blue colour) I decided I would make it again in pink and keep one in my stash.

 Ingredients

  • Stamping bella - Edna needs a martini
  • Distress ink - Kitch flamingo
  • Stencil from the range
  • Sequins from my stash
  • Coloured with spectrum noir triblend brush markers

I used my craft artist software to draw and frame in black and add the sip, sip, hooray sentiment in various fonts onto the bottom of the card, and printed this out.

After cutting to size I used my stencil and a light hand to add pink bubbles in the background.

Edna was stamped and coloured, and stickles added to her wings for added sparkle.  I then fussy cut her out and added her with foam pads onto the background, finishing with a few pink sparkly sequins to complete the card.

Isn't she just adorable, a girl after my own heart!

I'd like to enter her into:

New blog and Social Media accounts

 Hello!

Welcome to my new blog and set of social media accounts.  I figured it was time once again to dip my toe into the digital world and stop being a hermit!

My old blog is still available but as I haven't posted in two years I figured it was time to start again. If you want to check out some of my older work then go to www.allthingspurpleandsparkly.blogspot.co.uk

As my profile says, I've been card making for a very long time, I started making my own wedding invites, with a bit of stamping and embossing and it all went from there.  A small shoe box grew to a plastic tote box, to a set of shelves (I can hear fellow crafters nodding!) and suddenly the dining room wasn't big enough and I converted a bedroom with a small desk.... and this continued.  We even moved house and I adopted a bigger craft room, but before long I couldn't find anything, brought duplicates because I forgot I already had it, and general had a mess everywhere, which made me sad and I lost my crafty mojo for a while....

My lovely and extremely understanding husband, Matt stepped in and told me if I designed my perfect craft room, he would build it...

After multiple  trips to Ikea, and browsing you tube/Pinterest for hours on end, I finally came up with a design that would hold everything I need as well as space to grow, but would be organised, and tidy.

The result is my beautiful pink craft room.  Its not glittery per say, but it does have glitter everywhere as I cant resist a bit of sparkle on a card!  Crafters out there know that once the glitter tub is open, its also everywhere (including on the dogs fur!)  hence my new name of 'The glittery pink craft room'

Here's a few photos (it was in use for projects at the time so still a little messy) but you get the idea....

This is my desk space.  on my right I have some Alex drawers and a huge pegboard with all my essentials on it (as well as some grab items on the desk)

Here is my wall of goodies.  these are billy bookcases filled with cardstock, paper kits, stamps, dies and other crafty bits and pieces.  the pink chair is extra space when people visit, or if Harry wants to join me for some colouring fun!

This is the view back towards my desk.  You can see I used a KALLAX unit underneath it to store fabrics and mixed media items.  behind my is a bigger Kallax unit with ink pads, Copics and other alcohol markers.  Also on here is my 12x12 Papers and in the cupboards there is a variety of inks and other goodies.  On the inside of these cupboards I have magnetic sheets to store those dies I use all the time (mainly circles and rectangle dies)

Right at the back behind my door you can see a spice rack I use for storing ink sprays, glitter glues and nuvo drops, and along the left hand side, I have a bank of ikea drawers with kitchen cabinets above.  My trolleys I use for storing more stamps and the one with the top doubles as my scan and cut station.

Stop by again soon as the inspiration will start to be posted of the pretty things that get made in here.  If you want to follow me, the link is on the right of the page, I'd love to see you and any comments you have, I read every one (even if I don't answer them) and it truly makes my day when they light up my inbox!. Also I have linked social media pages on the right,(Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest) if you're interested. watch this space......

lots of crafty hugs
