Terror-ific

Hello again - I'm back with another spooky themed project!

This autumn gnome can be used for Halloween or just for autumn, but he is so cool and really easy to colour.  If you don't have the time or patience to colour, you can buy him pre-coloured.  Both digi and pre-coloured are available on the poolkadoodles website here:

This is to celebrate the start of our latest challenge over on the polkadoodles blog. where our theme , as ever, is anything goes...

Our DT always have some amazing projects to whet the appetite or if you're feeling a bit uninspired, yu can also check out the shop where every image has a gallery you can look through to help you imagine what you can make with the images! Please pop over and see us!

I firstly printed and coloured him using copics.  I then took the sentiments from the set and some paper and tore it for the central banner.  I decided it needed some interest in the background and grabbed a stencil from my stash and inked through.

All finished with some black Nuvo drops and a doodled border in black fineliner!

I am scheduling this post as I'm away on hols, but i will be back soon with more inspiration! Thanks for stopping by!

See you again soon

Lets be frank...

 Hi crafting friends

When I opened the Halloween release from Polkadoodles, I was automatically drawn to this guy.

I'm not sure why - but I thought he was the cutest monster I had ever seen; I also knew he would make an amazing polaroid picture.

To make him, I firstly increase the size of the digi image (that is the beauty of digital images!) then laid a rectangle over the top on craftartist so I could move it around and give me fabulous, framed image.  Once I was happy with the layout, I printed him out and coloured him using copic markers.

The image is again from the set, and I printed it along with the frame. This was then matted onto black card stock to make it pop.

The background was looking a little plain, so using more of those funky sentiments I placed a few around the edge of a 7x7 card like badges in the background

I am in love with it!!!

I'd like to enter this into:

You say witch like its a bad thing....

 Hi everyone

OMG - the new Polkadoodles release is out, and it is the cutest gnome set ever!!!  I totally loved colouring these guys and adding them to cards, I have so many to share, but I'll spread a few out between now and Halloween.

I just adore this image with the sentiment.  I sized her on craft artist the printed her three times.  I decided which parts would be most forward, and cut these out, forming a decoupage.  Its difficult to tell on a photo but she is so layered and looks really funky in 3d!

She was coloured with my trusty Copics, but the purple is spectrum noir triblend pens as I couldn't quite find the right purple shade from my copic stash.  I edged all of the layers with a black pen.
The background papers are also from the new release,  If you purchase the bundle you get all of the digi's, papers, sentiments and coloured images too!  at the moment its 40% off too, so a bargain, and it means you can get ahead making those cards and party invites!

lets get spooky...

Hi fellow crafters (and craft appreciators!)

I'm afraid Summer is drawing to a close, and looking at the prices of gas and electric in the UK, come the winter, we will be too cold to craft, so I'd better get ahead!

Our challenge is on again over at Polkadoodles week 35 - anything goes, along with a chance to win some of Nikky's amazing images - your biggest challenge will be choosing which ones!

This image is called Frankenstein monster boo and I have also used the Halloween paper bundle 2

I firstly used scattered straw distress oxide in the background, blending from the middle outwards like a glow, then added ink on the edges to frame him. I then used black gouache paint to splatter all over the background too.

I tore two strips of different papers to place across the bottom to ground my image.  He was printed out then coloured using copic markers then fussy cut and popped on some foam squares for dimension

I added the image and the sentiment, and decided it need more, so I went back to the paper pack and enlarged some of the skulls and fussy cut them out.

To finish the spooky feel, I doodled around the edge, and added some hand drawn cobwebs in the top corners

there are loads of great Autumn/Halloween images over in the shop - Please check them out.  Also see the other DTs amazing inspiration on the blog too!

Witches brew part two

Hello everyone

As promised in my last post - this is the final Halloween (that’s not Halloween) for 2021.

Using the same LoTV digi stamp set with the cutest witches and wizards, this one was made at the same time to use up papers I had printed and because if you're going to print one digi, you may as well print several on a page!

Ingredients

  • Lili of the valley stamps - Spooky toadstool
  • Nitwit Papers - Halloween Hooligans
  • Black Nuvo drops
  • Glitter - tonic shimmer pen
  • Coloured with Spectrum noir triblend brush marker

For this witch, I fussy cut her out leaving a tiny white border.  I matted and layered the coloured papers with black and added a final strip down the middle to help her 'pop'.

I hope you like them both - I think they are super cute, and shouldn't be just for October 31st.

Please leave me some love in the comments box – which witch is your favourite?

Also check out my other social media pages on my home page for other ways to follow what I make.

See you soon

Witches brew part one

  Hi everyone

Here are my final Halloween cards, that are not really Halloween cards. This post and the next one shows two stamps from the same set.

I made them using the last release from Lili of the valley.  I loved these cute witches so much, I couldn't resist them.  I can use them for all sorts of cards rather than wishing Happy Halloween.

This first one is a "just because" card,

Ingredients

  • Lili of the valley stamps (1) Pumpkins and (2) is Spooky toadstool
  • Nitwit Papers - Halloween Hooligans
  • Black Nuvo drops
  • Glitter - tonic shimmer pen
  • Coloured with Spectrum noir triblend brush marker
  • Tattered lace stitched rectangle die
  • Sentiment Mama elephant stamp set - sending hugs

I printed both images out to save on paper and ink and coloured them using my alcohol pens.   I used the same colour scheme for each so I could use up some papers I had already printed for a previous project.

For card number one,

I used some paper to over approx. half of my A6 card blank and added a strip of scrap black card to add extra interest.  I die cut my pumpkin witch onto a rectangle before placing her at a jaunty angle.  I Stamped the sentiment in white and embossed, adding it a he same angle.  I then decided it need more shine so I added glossy accents to make it stand out.

Finally I added black Nuvo drops to balance the space.

I'd like to enter her into:

If you've landed here (either on purpose or accidentally!) then please leave me a comment so I know you've been.  If blogging isn't your thing - I'd love to see you on my FB, Insta or Pinterest pages (link on the home page top right!)  either way I'm just happy you're here!

See you again very soon.

October new release at All dressed up

 Hi crafty friends

I am so privileged to be part of this design team, every month Wendy sends us incredible new release images to play with.

This month I got this cutie called witches hat. (get it here from Etsy)

I made a couple of cards, but in the end decided on a trick or treat bag I can hand out to the kids that come knocking on my door on Oct 31st.  I did put some sweet treat in it - then ate them!  I'll have to refill before the end of the month

Ingredients

  • Witches hat digi image
  • Copic markers to colour
  • template from craft artist software
  • embellishments and tag from a nitwits digi kit Halloween hooligans
  • white ribbon and twine from my stash that I coloured with copics
  • Die - plain circle from tattered lace
I used the digi kit from nitwit and my craft artist program to put together the patterned box template, cut it out and assembled it.  I then printed the image on white cardstock and coloured with copics, before cutting out using a plain circle die. It needs some more embellishment so I went back to the nitwit kits and typed a sentiment onto a tag and cut out along with the extra the bats

I didn't have the right colour thin ribbon, so I used some white and coloured using copics, and some white twine to finish.

The other new releases are just as sweet

Frightfully sweet

 Hello friends

A few posts back I said I do not do Halloween as a rule, I do not celebrate it and my son doesn’t go trick or treating.  Not due to religious reasons just because it doesn’t sit comfortably with me.  Having said that, I have had several posts recently about Halloween because the images are just tooooo cute! I saw this MFT one and had to have it.  There is something super sweet about animals dressed up to make a cute scene!

Ingredients

  • Stamps
    • MFT - frightfully sweet
    • Clearly besotted  - Alien attack
  • Inks
    • Distress oxides
      • Mustard seed
      • Chipped sapphire
      • Wilted violet
      • Twisted citron
      • Black soot
    • Versa mark
    • Memento tuxedo black
    • Hero arts unicorn pigment ink
  • Scan and cut
  • Gold metallic paint
  • White and black acrylic paint
  • Shimmer pen
  • Glossy accents

I made this card into a z fold, but with a bottom bar to add the critters too.

I did this by taking a 6x6 card blank.  I folded the front page back on itself (so its like a z shape) and then opened it flat again. I then trimmed 1.5 inches off the bottom to make the bar.

Before layering I inked the background. I knew I wanted a spooky house in the background so started with mustard seed in this location and added twisted citron across the bottom to add a spooky glow. I then continued blending using wilted violet, chipped sapphire and a bit of black soot along the top. Once I was happy with the blending, I added gold metallic, white, and black paints to splatter across the night sky

For the ground, my critters stand on, this was black card stock I cut into wavy lines added white pigment ink to the top and then layered them together. I used a white gel pen to add dots (I forgot t platter before I had assembled so had to improvise!)

I then stamped and coloured the cute critters from the MFT stamps set and the spooky castle/house from clearly besotted. And cut them all out using my scan and cut.

The bottom bar was added the opposite way around to the main card folds, and everything was then placed and either glues or foam pads used to adhere it together. The sentiment was from the MFT set and was embossed using white powder and a Versamark in pad. Finishing touches were a bit of glitter and some glossy accents.

Phew that was a lot of explaining!

All dressed up - Facebook challenge, Autumn or Halloween

 Hi crafty friends

It is again time for the next challenge from All dressed up on the Facebook group.  If you want to enter all we ask is you use an all dressed up image, and make it to the theme of Autumn or Halloween.  There are loads of images you can use  on the Etsy page.

I used the image called Magical day  to make this:

I wanted to make her more generic than just a Halloween card, so I used Craft artist to make a digital sentiment that says "Hey Pumpkin" so I could use it anytime just to say hi.

Ingredients

  • Digi image from All dressed up called magical day
  • Copic markers
  • Celery and grape jelly lawn fawn inks
  • Black soot distress ink
  • Lawn fawn shimmer drops
  • Glossy accents
  • Hunkydory Star stencil

I printed her out on alcohol friendly card and coloured her using copic markers.  I cut her out using my scan and cut.  While the machine was working away I used a starry background and a combination of of inks through the stencil, as well as making splatters with them and the lawn fawn sparkle to make a shimmery pretty backdrop.

I added a strip of purple holographic card and black glitter card from my stash, layered the image up with foam pads and added my sentiment strip.

Final touch was glossy accents on the pumpkin and bow to make them stand out

If you want to enter, follow the challenge rules and post in on our Facebook page before the end of October to be in with a chance of winning XX of Wendy's images.

I'd like to enter this into:
